With a background in construction and law enforcement, Steve Stenros combined his construction and report writing skills and founded First Choice Inspections in March of 2003. He holds a home inspection certification from the Building Specs training academy in Irvine, California.
Steve is a CREIA home inspector holding the MCI (Master CREIA Inspector) designation (#0115). CREIA (The California Real Estate Inspection Association) is the oldest and largest State inspector association in the nation. As a member of the north San Diego CREIA chapter, he has held Board positions as President, Vice-President, and Secretary. Steve has personally inspected more than 5000 homes in San Diego, Carlsbad, Oceanside, Escondido, Fallbrook, Temecula, and the surrounding regions of southern California.
Steve is an International Code Council (ICC)Residential Combination Inspector (#5251439). This certification, along with his CREIA MCI certification, place Steve in the very highest percentile of credentialed home inspectors in the State of California.
Steve is an ASHI Certified Inspector (American Society of Home Inspectors)- #256853. ASHI is the most respected professional association for home inspectors in North America. ASHI's Standards of Practice—covering all of a home's major systems—are now part of many pieces of state legislation and are recognized by consumers as the authoritative standard for professional home inspection.
Steve is an InterNACHI Certified Master Inspector #14053007. The International Association of Certified Home Inspectors—InterNACHI—is the world's largest nonprofit association of residential and commercial property inspectors, providing education, training, certification, benefits and support for its members The CMI designation is InterNACHI's highest credential. CMI's have additional experience that sets them apart from other inspectors.
As a certified Level 1 Infrared Thermographer (#7791), Steve also offers a wide spectrum of infrared photography including energy scans (missing insulation, drafty areas), moisture intrusion scans (sources/extent of moisture), roof scans (flat roofs- trapped moisture), electrical scans (overheating, fire hazards), and mechanical scans (predictive maintenance).
Steve is an FAA-licensed drone pilot (#4048079). Drone technology is available to inspect those difficult-to-reach roofs.
Steve is also a qualified FHA/HUD Inspector (#V975) providing timely response to lenders throughout the region.
